Abstract

Mompreneurs contribute significantly to local economic development through their participation in micro and small enterprises. Despite their growing economic role, many mompreneurs continue to face challenges in sustaining business performance amid financial limitations and business uncertainties. This study examines the relationship between financial management practices and business performance and investigates the mediating role of business resilience among mompreneurs in Makassar City. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected from 400 mompreneurs and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS 4 software. The results reveal that financial management practices positively influence business resilience (β = 0.566, p < 0.001) and business performance (β = 0.334, p < 0.001). Business resilience also exerts a significant positive effect on business performance (β = 0.513, p < 0.001). Furthermore, business resilience partially mediates the relationship between financial management practices and business performance, indicating that effective financial management enhances performance not only directly but also through strengthening firms’ resilience capabilities. The model explains 23.8% of the variance in business resilience and 41.4% of the variance in business performance. These findings underscore the strategic importance of resilience-building in improving the sustainability and competitiveness of mompreneur-led businesses.
